Meet Jessica Box

Hi, I’m Jessica Box, a certified Infant Aquatics Instructor, the founder of One Baby at a Time Foundation (OBAAT), and the proud owner of The Swim Co. As a mother of three daughters, I understand firsthand the importance of water safety and the peace of mind that comes with knowing your child has the skills to survive in the water.

My passion for drowning prevention is deeply personal. Through both The Swim Co. and OBAAT, my mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to life-saving aquatic education. I have spent over a decade teaching infants and young children how to self-rescue, float, and swim confidently, using industry-backed methods proven to prevent drowning.

At The Swim Co., we believe that water competency isn’t just a skill—it’s a necessity. My goal is to make survival swim training accessible, effective, and empowering, so that families can enjoy the water with confidence, knowing their children are safe.

Why Water Safety Matters

Water safety is a critical life skill, especially for young children, as drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death worldwide. In the United States, drowning is the number one cause of death for children aged 1 to 4, with most incidents occurring in residential pools or open water. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning claims nearly 4,000 lives annually, averaging 11 fatalities per day. Research shows that formal survival swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%, making early aquatic education a vital step in protecting children. By teaching infants and young children how to float, swim, and self-rescue, we can empower them with life-saving skills while providing parents with the peace of mind that their child is safer around water.

Certified Swim Program

At The Swim Co., we are dedicated to equipping infants and young children with essential, life-saving water skills through structured, research-backed training. Our Infant Float Program teaches non-walking babies how to instinctively roll onto their backs and maintain a float position, ensuring they can breathe and stay safe in the water. For toddlers and older children, our Swim Float Swim Program develops full self-rescue skills, enabling them to swim, float to rest and breathe, then continue swimming until they reach safety. To ensure long-term retention and confidence, we also offer Annual Maintenance & Refresher Classes, reinforcing these critical survival techniques as children grow. At The Swim Co., our goal is to build strong, capable swimmers and provide parents with peace of mind through expert, proven water safety instruction.
